We use security measures to ensure to protect the data collected. Most of this data is aggregated through a reporting tool before even reaching us. We do not collect and store individualized and personally-identifying data without your consent.
Whenever you perform a search in the application, we collect information such as:
- Origin and destination
- Timestamp of searching
- Your current location
- The browser or platform you are using
All of these are collected to help us find broad patterns that will help us improve our services. This information is anonymized and not tied to your identity, unless you create and log in to a specific Sakay account.
Once you log in, the data is tied to your account for the session. If you do not wish to be identifiable through the data, you are advised to log out of your Sakay account.
We do not sell or disclose this information to third-parties, unless required to complete certain authentications or transactions. For example, we may send your information to Google or Facebook should you decide to log in through those channels.
Use of Location Data in Mobile Apps
Our services may use your location as provided by GPS, cell-towers, or Wi-Fi. This use of your location is opt-in and you may choose not to provide your location by adjusting your phone's privacy settings.
We use this data to show and update your location on the map, and act as a shortcut for setting origin or destination. We may also collect and store this data as described in the rest of this document, for example as in Search History above.
Auto-complete and Place Search
During search, we also collect what your text box looks like every time you hit enter on our fields. This is collected only for the purpose of improving our auto-complete feature.
This data will always be unnamed and will never be personally connected to you.
Communications Conducted through Sakay Services
We also collect information through the various ways you opt to communicate with us. These may take in the form of:
- Place Submissions: When you submit a new place or location to be pinned on the map, we collect the name, location, and other manually submitted information like typed addresses.
- Stop and Route Corrections: Whenever you submit feedback regarding our data, may it be to correct an outdated fare matrix or simply to report that a route no longer exists, we collect only the data provided in our respective forms.
We do not gather personal information through these channels.
In the event that you do reach out to us whether through e-mail for support, we may collect personal contact detail like your email address for the sole purpose of helping you resolve your inquiry. We retain support emails indefinitely to:
- Gain context from previous interactions which may help us answer your future questions quicker
- Identify trends in support requests, which may help us identify and solve problems with our products.
If you wish to remove your support emails you may contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
We do some of our advertising in-house; these ads only collect data related to your location searches.
We record two types of data for every ad that you see in the platform:
- Ad-related information such as the campaign, which location is it relevant to, and when is the ad shown
- Your interaction to the ad which includes seeing, tapping and saving any particular ad.
Third-party integrations and advertising, collection and services used
We use the following integrations to augment our services and improve your experience. Please refer to their respective privacy policies as to what information they collect.
- We use Google Analytics, Firebase, and Amplitude for usage analytics.
- Login authentication may be processed through Facebook or Google.
- Payment processing is managed through Paymaya and AFPI.
We also use Google AdSense and AdMob, for third-party advertising. These services may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons to collect information as a result of ad serving. You can find more information on these two services here.
Ownership of Data
Data obtained through use of the app such as your search history and saved locations, as well as information shared with us that is not personal, such as submissions of routes, corrections to data, and new places, are considered property of Sakay Mobility Philippines Corporation. By using the app and/or making a submission, you grant Sakay Mobility Philippines Corporation the right to store, revise, and publish this information.
These data are linked to your personal information when you are logged into your account. As mentioned above, if you do not wish to be identifiable through the data, you may log out of your Sakay account.
Your personal data such as your name, email and linked accounts are your property. Aside from logging out, you can also request to have these personal information deleted from our systems by emailing email@example.com, or by using the "Delete Account" functionality in the settings page of the Sakay application.
